Benefit Package
What type of insurance benefits does Project PPEP offer its employees?
Project PPEP pays the premiums for Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Group Life Insurance and an Employee Assistance Program. PPEP also assists with a large portion of the voluntary Health premiums. PPEP also offers voluntary insurance plans: Health, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Life, Flexible Spending Plans, Long Term Care, Pre-Paid Legal and Supplemental Short Term Disability and Accident.
Benefits
Once enrolled, when can I make changes to my benefit elections?
Because the Health, Dental, Vision and Flexible Spending Plans are deducted from paycheck before taxes, elections cannot be changed until the Open Enrollment period each July 1st. Exceptions to this rule include changes due to a qualifying event including: Marriage Divorce Birth of a Child or Adoption/Placement of a Child Spouse Loss/Gain of Coverage Gain/Loss of Employment Pre-Paid Legal insurance can be added or dropped at any time. Supplemental Life Insurance can be terminated at any time during the plan year. Long Term Care elections can only be changed on July 1 of each year due to contract restrictions.
Benefits Eligibility
When will I be eligible for insurance benefits?
All employees, excluding Encompass Field Staff and LACOHS, hired as Regular or Regular-Part time (working 30 hours or more per week) will be eligible for benefits on the 1st of the month following their 30 day anniversary. The same applies to any employee who moves from a non-benefits eligible status to a benefits eligible status. Encompass Field Staff are eligible for employment the 1st of the month following their 4 month anniversary of becoming Regular Status employees. LACOHS Staff that are considered Full time staff will be eligible for benefits the first of the month after 60 days of Regular status employment.
Combined Leave
Do I lose my combined leave at the end of the year?
No, As of July 1, 2002 all combined leave rolls over up to one and a half times your total accrual amount, excluding charter school employees. Those charter school employees who are actually on the school year schedule will lose their combined leave at the end of each school year, if unused. Charter employees will then have a frontload of hours at the beginning of each new school year.
Combined Leave
How do I find out how many hours of combined leave I am eligible to use?
Combined leave totals are printed out each pay period on your check stub. However, as soon as you start to accrue it will show up on your check stub, this does not mean you are eligible to take the time yet! For all PPEP staff except for the charter school and LACOHS employees combined leave eligibility is six months after the day an employee goes to regular, or regular part-time status. Charter school employees are eligible the day they are hired, but lose their vacation accruals at the end of each school year. For all other PPEP staff combined leave accrues during the first six months, but cannot be used until after the six month eligiblity date. There is no use it or lose it clause for these PPEP staff, the combined leave will continue to roll over. If there is no check stub handy, please feel free to contact Human Resources for an up to date listing of your accrual amount. LACOHS Staff are not currently eligible for Combined Leave.
Combined Leave and Leaving PPEP
Will I be paid out for my accrued combined leave if I resign or if I am dismissed?
No, According to the June 2002 Policy and Procedure Manual, earned but unused accrued leave will not be paid out upon termination of employment. (either voluntary or involuntary)
